I became an elementary teacher in 1990. I have been a regular education teacher for many years. I have taught from Kindergarten through 4th grade. But, I have to say that my love and passion has been for the primary grades. For 8 years, I was a bilingual elementary education teacher for grades K and 1st. I had the privilege to teach children to read and write in English and Spanish. When our grant ended, I had the opportunity to move into an ESL position. As an ESL teacher I get to work with small groups of kids. Even though I do work with students to build their language skills, I also work with intervention groups with math, reading and writing. I have worn many hats as an elementary teacher, but I have loved all of it!
